Letter for Year 10 parents re return to school from 3rd June

22nd May 2020

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones well. You are receiving this letter as you have indicated that your child will not be returning to school as we re-open from Wednesday 3rd June or because you have not yet replied. I understand what a difficult decision that will have been for you to make.

I wanted to try to give you some further guidance on how the return will function to allow you to continue to consider the decision. We would love to see your child back at school at this important time in their education and if you change your mind now or in the coming weeks we will ensure we can support you.

As you can imagine, the format and structure of the day will be very different from our normal school day to allow for appropriate social distancing and safety measures to be implemented. Students will be invited in to school on a rota basis with numbers and groupings strictly controlled for safety purposes. As the provision begins we will regularly review and advise you of any amendments.

Key information

The school day will run from 9:30am until 12:30pm. Students will arrive and line-up on the social distancing markers outside of the main entrance where they will be admitted by a member of the senior leadership team.

On arrival students must use the sanitiser unit in main reception or wash their hands immediately.

Students may wear casual clothing to aid you in ensuring clothing can be washed immediately after any learning session.

Sessions will take place in the main Hall at desks which have been placed at least 2 metres from each other. Your child would be given a numbered desk that they sit at each time they attend.

A packed lunch will be provided to all students.

Students will use their own work-books and stationery to avoid cross contamination.

All work areas and high flow spaces will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each session.
Measures and procedures have been put in place to handle any instances of students or staff becoming unwell with symptoms of CoVid-19 or otherwise. However, should any student or staff member in a particular group be confirmed as having CoVid-19 then all members of that group will be informed and required to isolate for 14 days.

If you decide that having read this you would prefer your child to return to school then please email me at principal@ninestiles.org.uk and we will inform you of the appropriate dates for your child to join the provision.

Staff will continue to provide online resources through our SharePoint and software packages such as Hegarty Maths and GCSE Pod. It is very important that during this period of uncertainty you continue to work closely with your child and the school to support their learning and future success.

Yours sincerely

Alex Hughes
