Please note that school will be closed to students on exam results day.
1st July 2020
Dear Parent/Carer and Student
Exam Results Day – Thursday 20th August 2020
Firstly, and most importantly, I hope you and your loved ones are well.
I am writing to provide further clarification about the arrangements for GCSE results day. As a result of COVID 19, Ninestiles will be closed to all students on exam results day this year. Instead, all students will receive their GCSE results via email on Thursday 20th August, using their school Microsoft account. The email will be sent from 8.00am and will only include their results. Following on from this all students will receive a follow-up letter containing confirmation of their results, which will be posted as soon as possible on Thursday.
As you are probably aware, school has submitted the subject grades this year, using a formula provided by Ofqual. A huge amount of time and effort has gone into ensuring that these are fair and representative of each student’s ability in every subject. These will then be scrutinised, and possibly adjusted, by the exam boards.
The government has stated that there is no process of appeal for the grades that are awarded this year, but students will have the opportunity to sit exams in the autumn term. At the time of writing, we have had no specific detail about how and when these will take place. As soon as we know we will let you know. There is still much uncertainty about education at present, however, one constant is the support and guidance your child will receive around results day. A post results, online support service will be available on Friday 21st August, via appointment only with the staff listed below; alternatively, you are welcome to email staff directly.

Further details will be posted on our website closer to the date. In the meantime, please refer to the attached documents.
To ensure the process runs smoothly, we will send a test email next Wednesday (8th July). There will be a form attached which you will need to complete and return as confirmation that you have read and received the email. This must be returned by the deadline specified.
It is very important to us that we celebrate our students’ successes, even if we can’t do so on results day as we would normally. We are planning a celebration evening in the autumn term and will send you more details about this nearer the time.
Your resilience, compassion and spirit, I’m sure, will be evident as you move towards your Post 16 choices. We will write again soon but please check Twitter and our website for further updates. If government guidance changes so that a meaningful on-site results day can happen, then we will be in touch.
The best of luck to you all.
