Year 11 is an important period of time in your child’s life and we are currently adapting new ways in which to inform parents about their child’s final year in school. I would therefore like to direct you towards our website, which will feature information regarding how we will be best supporting our Year 11 cohort.
Over the forthcoming weeks, we will be adding a wealth of support material for students and parents to access via our website. This will include College Applications guidance, Revision and Intervention timetables, Learning Skills, Independent Learning and Health & Well-Being information.
As mentioned, this year is crucial for your child; there is a range of tasks for them to complete to help them secure their future, i.e. creating a personal statement, providing us with information regarding their skills, qualities, interests and aspirations in order for a reference to be provided for their preferred college or apprenticeship programme.
Your child will also need to prepare for their pre public (PPEs) and final GCSE examinations.
This year we have introduced a Study Skills session on your child’s timetable. This session takes place on a fortnightly basis and aims to provide information on the application to post 16 courses, establish study habits as well as easing the anxiety that may come with the idea of revising, taking the final exams and applying to colleges.
Students will have the opportunity to speak with a Careers Advisor this term and we highly recommend that students attend their interview with their Post 16 aspirations in mind.
We strongly recommend that you view the information on our school website.
If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the Director of Year 11, Ms Sheran Kaur: email@example.com
