Letter for Year 11 parents regarding core exams

Monday, 19th October 2020

Dear Parent/Carer

Year 11 Core Examination Monday 2nd November and Wednesday 4th November 2020

Firstly and most importantly, I hope you and your loved ones are well.

This letter is to inform you that all Year 11 students will be undertaking core examinations on Monday 2nd
November and Wednesday 4th November. These trial exams are an opportunity for students to revise and consolidate their knowledge,

develop examination skills and experience examination conditions. They should be treated as a serious and important part of the build-up to the summer examinations.

You will also be aware of the current uncertainty about exams in Summer 2021 and as such, we need to ensure that we have a strong evidence base in the event that we

need to submit centre-assessed grades again. Examination grades, along with class and independent work, were all vital in helping us to formulate our grades last summer.

Before half-term, students will be given a personalised timetable along with specific guidance on what and how they should revise in each subject from their teachers.

All students in Year 11 have been provided with revision guides, past examination papers and some have textbooks to support them with revision. For nonexamined subjects,

additional work will be set for completion over the half- term. Students are also advised to access to GCSE Pod, Teams, Hegarty Maths and Educake to help them with guided revision.

Students are expected to arrive to school at their normal time and ready to start at 8.40am. They will require black pens, pencils and a ruler.

Students must wear full school uniform for the examinations.  Examinations will take place in classrooms, allowing the school to continue

to keep all students in their allocated ‘bubble’, as per our existing Covid-19 measures.

There will be some minor adjustments to lunch and break times, but the school day will otherwise remain unchanged.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards
