In Philosophy & Ethics, we aim to foster compassionate and engaged global citizens with a broad and challenging curriculum. The subject strives to promote acceptance and a celebration of individuality through teaching Fundamental British Values. Philosophy is integral to engage with social issues and current affairs respectfully and critically. Awareness of the modern world is promoted to engage learners and expand their horizons. Pupils will learn from the major world religions and world views, while developing a deeper understanding of ethical issues and current affairs. Learneers will be able to contribute confidently and respectfully, and they will be able to critically engage with viewpoints and consider their own stance in a balanced way. Learners will reach these judgements after analysing different opinions in an open-minded and accepting way. The value of communication is imperative, and pupils will learn to communicate effectively with others through discussion and debate.
