SUMMIT LEARNING TRUST PROUD OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Summit Learning Trust is celebrating excellent GCSE examination results for young people from its secondary academies – Cockshut Hill School, Lyndon School and Ninestiles, an Academy – today (22nd August).
Teenagers up and down the country sat their exams back in May and June and have been awaiting their results ever since. Summit Learning Trust made exceptional efforts to ensure learners were well prepared and confident going into their examinations.
At Lyndon School:
- Shfaa Qaiser received five 9s and five 8s in her GCSE and equivalent subjects. She has applied to study Biology, Chemistry, History and Maths at Solihull Sixth Form and hopes to pursue a career in dentistry or medicine.
- Abigail Unlu received four 9s, four 8s and one grade 7. She has applied to Solihull Sixth Form College to study Science A levels as she is interested in pursuing a career in medical research.
- Tom Carlin received four 9s, three 8s and three grade 7sand is going to study Maths and Computer Science at Solihull Sixth Form College with a view to carrying on those studies at university.
- Another Lyndon learner, Isaac Fee, received four 9s, three 8s, one grade 7 and two Level 2 Distinction grades. He is also going on to study at Solihull Sixth Form College and he hopes to pursue a career in architecture or the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) field in the future.
- MahnoorQureshi received one 6, six 5s and one grade 1. She has secured an apprenticeship in pharmacy.
Lyndon School was triple-award nominated this year. The school was nominated in the Making a Difference – Secondary School of the Year category at the Pearson National Teaching Awards and for Secondary School of the Year by the Tes School Awards. The school has also been nominated for a National Diversity Award in the Diverse Company category and the results for this will be announced in October.
At Cockshut Hill:
- Kitti Krisztian received a range of grades at eight to five and is going off to study Philosophy, History, Psychology and Criminology.
- Ali-Shaan Hamdeen achieved grade 9’s in Maths, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Statistics, along with grade 8s in English Literature and Religious Studies and a grade 7 in Geography. Ali-Shaan is planning to study A levels in Maths, Biology and Chemistry and hopes to study medicine
It has been an exciting year for Cockshut Hill School as the Principal, Mr Jason Bridges was honoured with a Silver Pearson Award in The Award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School category for his outstanding commitment to changing the lives of the children he works with every day.
Cockshut Hill also celebrated its first ever Good Ofsted rating last academic year. The school received the report following a successful inspection in June 2023, marking the significant improvements made since the school’s previous inspection in July 2019. During their visit inspectors recognised the “significant progress” made at the school, which they said has “transformed” learners’ experiences. This is clearly the result of outstanding teaching and learning, with the report stating that “learners are determined to succeed and… committed to their learning.”
At Ninestiles, an Academy:
- Head Girl and award winning public speaker Marigold Adu received three grade 9s and all other subjects at grade 7 or above.
- Isaac Mohammed has balanced studying for his GCSEs with a burgeoning cricket career for Warwickshire, he received grade 5 or above in English, Maths and RE as well as a level 2 Merit in Sports Studies and his cricketing career is progressing well.
- Tangina Akram, who had 100% attendance this year, received grade 5 and above in all subjects with an 8 in English Literature. She has made amongst the very highest progress in her year group.
- Another Ninestiles learner, Jacob Clifton, passed Maths at grade 4 and received a level 2 Pass in Hospitality. He wants to pursue his dream of being a chef, after completing a chef course on Saturday mornings and getting brilliant feedback.
Ninestiles, an Academy has also had a busy year, hosting the ESU Public Speaking Competition and their learners made it through to the regional final. The school also received a Leading Parent Partnership Award and a Young Carers in Schools Award.
