Our Intent:
At Ninestiles we are an aspirational and inclusive academy that champions the values of respect, commitment and achievement.
We facilitate transformational learning and exceptional progress through an inspirational, knowledge-rich curriculum.
We improve life chances for our students by tackling disadvantage and removing barriers to learning to ensure that they all achieve their potential. Students leave our academy as self-respecting, compassionate global citizens.
Our Vision:
Our curriculum intent is to provide a curriculum that is unapologetically ambitious, securing the very best academic outcomes through the values of respect, commitment and achievement.
Our curriculum ensures that students leave Ninestiles as rights respecting global citizens with a strong sense of identity, moral purpose, and the capability to gain meaningful employment or entry into a good university.
Curriculum at Ninestiles
Our 9 Curriculum Principles
1. Academic Vocabulary
At Ninestiles we deepen knowledge through the acquisition of a broad and academically rich vocabulary that deepens understanding. The limits of my language, are the limits of my world.
2. Character Education
At Ninestiles we adopt a ‘no excuses’ approach to discipline which explicitly teaches and models the values of respect and commitment. Our central focus is on learning and acheivement.
3. Fluency in Literacy & Numeracy
At Ninestiles we develop fluency in numeracy, reading, writing and oracy through practice and mastery so that students are able to communicate what they understand.
4. Awe & Wonder
At Ninestiles we ignite an independent excitement, curiosity and drive to explore and discover the world around us and our place in it.
5. Knowledge Rich
At Ninestiles we deliver a broad and knowledge-rich curriculum that uses intelligent assessment processes; memorisation, practice and repetition. Students will be able to remember, connect and apply their knowledge, skills and understanding independently.
6. Reading
At Ninestiles students read daily for at least 20 minutes. Reading skills underpin success in every subject as well as improving vocabulary and conversational skills.
7. Well-being
At Ninestiles students are taught how to keep themselves safe and develop physical and mental resilience for life.
8. Beautiful Work
At Ninestiles students produce beautiful work during their pursuit of academic excellence.
9. Cultural Knowledge
At Ninestiles we believe that cultural capital gives students the power and freedom to achieve goals and become successful. We provide experiences that seek to reflect and celebrate our diverse cultural heritage.
