Curriculum Intent
Every learner should be guaranteed an entitlement to History that generates a passion for people and develops an understanding of human issues that resonate today. Our intent is to promote social justice through the provision of a rich and relevant cultural capital curriculum. We want our learners to make a deep and meaningful connection with the past; be highly tuned critical thinkers; and be creative and engage with societal issues on diversity and discrimination, so that they make meaningful contributions to their community. We want to provoke ambition and equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in future education, work and life.
Through our carefully designed curriculum, learners will have the opportunity to learn about local history and to also see the place of Birmingham and Britain in wider European and world history. They should have a broad understanding of key historical concepts that will allow them to access the world in which we live today and spark curiosity and excitement both in themselves and each other.
