Our intent is to provide MFL learners at Ninestiles, An Academy the opportunity to develop communication skills and broaden their horizons beyond familiar cultural boundaries. We promote a love of learning and curiosity, exposing learners to new countries, cultures and languages. Learners should be able to understand and express their ideas in the target language, ultimately preparing them for the study of MFL at A Level and beyond. Through the learning of a foreign language, we aim to increase learners’ metalinguistic skills to help improve their literacy and understanding of their own languages. As stated in the National Curriculum, we believe that “learning a foreign language is a liberation from insularity and provides an opening to other cultures”.
